Last week Instagram surprised the world with their new update, Instagram Stories. The new feature that looked almost exactly like the Snapchat feature of the same name. As soon as it was made available, people were posting their first stories. From ‘this is cooool’ to ‘This is a rip off’ ‘Follow me on Snap” and “Snapchat is dead’.
I’m still trying to figure out what team I’m on. What side are you on, #TeamSnapchat or #TeamInstagram?
Aaah what’s happening? Just when I think I have a decent and cool Instagram feed, they come with their new Snapchat rip off. No offence, but that’s really what it is. I’ve been snapping a lot ever since I’ve added Snapchat to my phone, love to share my day, loooove playing around with the filters (puppy, flowercrown filter love!)
What’s the biggest difference between Instagram Stories and Snapchat Stories?
Instagram gives you the option of doodling on your pictures and movies with pens, the best being a glowing one. Hello laser vision or halo! There’s a choice between a few suble filters. Nothing to spectacular, but that’s the it’s meant. To share more stuff, without having to use four other apps to edit your picture to perfection.
Snapchat gives you filters: from puppyface, to flowercrown to scary ones, it varies every few days.Geofilters, and you can add the temprature, time and change the speed of your videos. The latest filters also alter the tone of your voice.
Instagram Stories are put at the top of your feed, in order of which are closest to you, according the algorithm used by Instagram.
Snapchat stories are ranked in order of who updated most recently.
Apparently both apps offer the option to share your old pictures to your story.I actually haven’t tried this on Instagram yet, but they allow you to share pictures taken within the last 24 hours.
Snapchat offers you the option to share anything you’ve saved on your phone or to your Snap Memories.
As of this point I’ve started using both. I prefer using Snapchat though, simply because it offers more filter fun. It’s the place for the funny pictures and movies, the just out of bed look..Or the tired and anything but flattering selfie, that you can slap your dog face filter on or the ‘I look amazing and glowing even though I feel like crap’ filter.
Instagram feels like a place where I share more staged beauty and fashion photography, I feel almost ‘naked’ without editing the pictures or movies I share through Stories.
I’m going to try to see if I can keep up with using both. What’s your favorite?
